ABOUT CHAMPION PAVEMENT INC.

History of the Company

Francis Gallagher founded Champion Pavement in 1988 with one striping machine and an old pick-up truck. Over the next decade, "Frank" built a solid foundation, both with his clients and his employees. As a result, Champion Pavement has grown into a full service pavement maintenance company. Today the company continues to grow. Champion Pavement is large enough to handle any size project but small enough to still give each client the personal attention they deserve.

Serving our Clients

Champion Pavement is committed to the best quality service in the industry. We understand that repeat business is essential to our success. Our Estimator team is determined to work with each client individually and determine the best course of action. We will evaluate short and long term needs and devise feasible and economical solutions to fit any budget.

Our commitment extends beyond exceptional customer service to include educating our clients about the industry. We have developed two sections of this site to assist you in any asphalt project. The "Bidding Process" ensures similar and competitive bids from any contractors you contact. "Hiring the Right Contractor" will ensure you hire a reputable contractor.

The Bidding Process

The first thing any business owner or property manager should do when attacking an asphalt maintenance project is design and choose a scope of work. This is needed to give you and the contractors job direction. Here are some basic questions to answer before putting a project out to bid.

1) What work do you want performed, i.e.; re-striping, crack treatment, sealcoating, patching, etc?

2) What type of material will be used?

3) What application techniques will be used?

4) How many phases or moves will it take to complete the job?

These are questions that if answered early will eliminate confusion during the bidding process and eliminate wide swings in prices and services. Champion Pavement will be happy to assist you in designing a scope of work that you may then distribute to others to ensure "Apples-to-Apples" bidding. To receive an on-site consultation, CONTACT US and tell us what you want.

Hiring the Right Contractor

Once you have received an ample number of bids it is time to hire a contractor. You should ask for the following from an asphalt maintenance contractor:

1) Name and phone number of the company's supplier: Professional contractors use industrial strength sealer. This material is only sold in bulk. Beware of contractors using 5 gallon buckets or store bought sealer. These materials do not perform as well as sealers used by professional contractors.

2) References. Most reputable contractors are eager to furnish references. Check to see if the jobs were performed to satisfaction in a timely, professional manner.

3) A warranty. Too often business owners or property managers find out after a disappointing experience that there is no warranty on the work. If a warranty is offered, get it in writing.

4) A certificate of insurance. Liability and workers compensation insurance is easily attainable for legitimate companies.

5) Do not pay full cost in advance. Most state laws prohibit contractors from receiving more than 1/3 of the contract price at the acceptance of the contract. Find out the terms of payment and avoid contractors that only accept cash.

6) Get it in writing. Always get a written contract before you permit work to proceed. This should detail when work is to begin, the exact details of the improvements to be made, the quality of material to be used, an estimated completion date and payment terms. Read the entire contract before signing, including any small print.
